Jean Anderson (12 December 1907 – 1 April 2001) was an English actress born in Eastbourne, Sussex. She is best remembered for her television roles as hard-faced matriarch Mary Hammond in the 1970s BBC drama The Brothers and as rebellious aristocrat Lady Jocely...n "Joss" Holbrook in the 1980s Second World War series Tenko .
She is also notable for playing the role of the Mother in The Railway Children in two separate BBC adaptations in 1951 and 1957.
